Mindfulness has been used for thousands of years to promote well-being. It is now widely recognized as being a powerful tool that can help anyone enhance their appreciation of life, manage stress, and improve performance in activities and tasks. Many people who practice mindfulness regularly report that it helps them reduce ‘over-thinking’ which then enables them to be more effective at work and to enjoy home-life more. Increasingly mindfulness is used in a wide variety of settings because it has been shown to increase or promote productivity, strategic thinking, creativity, learning, empathy, stress-resilience, and ‘perspective taking’ – the ability to ‘see the bigger picture’. In addition to all this there is strong scientific evidence that mindfulness can reduce stress, anxiety and low moods.
